What Accounting Periods is for

Circulation Accounting Periods maintains the period control used by the Circulation ledger/account transaction path.

The current normal posting flow expects exactly one Open Circulation Accounting Period when a transaction does not explicitly supply a period.

Find and open

Open Circulation -> Accounting Periods.

Use search, sorting and paging over Period Name, Start Date, End Date, Status and Type, then click a row.

Create a period

Choose Create and enter Period Name, Start Date, End Date, Status and optional Description.

The current Circulation screen keeps Period Type fixed to Yearly.

Keep one Open period

Use Open for the period intended for current Circulation posting and Close for periods that should not be selected as the active automatic period.

Date validation

Start Date and End Date must be valid calendar dates.

End Date cannot be earlier than Start Date.

Delete safely

Unused Closed periods can be deleted.

Open periods and periods referenced by opening balances, account transactions or ledgers are protected from Delete.

Separate from General Ledger Accounting Period

AkshaERP currently has a separate General Ledger Accounting Period implementation.

Maintaining a Circulation Accounting Period does not imply that the General Ledger period was changed.
